Rockheim Museum

Printed curtain wall in Trondheim, Norway

When Pir II designed Rockheim, Norway's National Museum of Rock and Pop Music, the inspiration came directly from the museum's collection. Just as Rockheim blends old and new Norwegian music, Pir II's design combines the old with the new. An old, converted factory is topped with a huge, boxed-shaped roof constructed of hundreds of glass panes digitally printed with the covers of Norwegian music albums.

The photorealistic album images were optimized for digital in-glass printing using Dip-Tech Xpert Pack (DXP) software and then printed with white digital ceramic ink on the clear glass. Backlit by more than 14,000 LED lights in many colors, the album colors constantly change, creating an amazing effect and an unforgettable experience.
